Sanskrit Lexicon – Privacy Policy

Sanskrit Lexicon (the “App”) respects your privacy. This notice explains what information we do not collect, how any iCloud‑synced data is handled by Apple, the regulations we comply with, and your related rights.

1  We Don’t Collect Personal Data

• The App creates no user accounts, runs no third‑party analytics or advertising SDKs, and never tracks you.
• The developer receives no personally identifiable information (PII) from the App.

2  Local & iCloud Storage

• Search history and favourites are stored locally on your device.
• If you enable iCloud, Apple’s CloudKit service syncs this data so you can access it on other devices signed in with the same Apple ID.
• All iCloud data is encrypted in transit and at rest; many data types are end‑to‑end encrypted. The developer cannot decrypt or access this content.

3  Compliance with Privacy Regulations

Because we collect no personal data, the App satisfies the core principles of multiple privacy frameworks, including but not limited to:

GDPR (EU)	No personal data is processed; users can delete all local data by removing the App or disable iCloud sync at any time.
CCPA / CPRA (California)	We do not sell or share personal information.
CalOPPA (California)	This publicly‑available policy fully discloses our data practices.
Other jurisdictions	The “no‑data‑collected” model aligns with equivalent privacy laws worldwide.

4  Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 and purposely collects no data from them. If you believe a minor has provided data, please contact us so we can delete it.

5  Your Choices

• Disable iCloud for the App at any time in Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Show All → Sanskrit Lexicon. Data will then remain only on your device.
• Delete all local data by uninstalling the App; iOS/macOS automatically erases its documents and databases.

6  Links to Other Services

The App does not embed third-party web content but may open links to external websites for reference. Specifically, the App includes links to the official Sanskrit Lexicon project at https://www.sanskrit-lexicon.uni-koeln.de/, which hosts scanned editions of the original dictionaries used to power this app.

7  Changes to This Policy

We may update this notice if our data practices change. We will post any new version at the same URL and revise the “Last updated” date.
